Yesterday I had a lovely opportunity to visit the Severnbank housing development at Newnham with the builders of the site, MF Freeman. MF Freeman is a local family run business that has been providing good quality housing since 1966.
This visit came about because of an event I attended back in March. The Home Builders Federation’s (HBF) ‘Skills Showcase’ was hosted in Parliament, and I attended to support our local building industry. During the event, I talked to Jack, a trainee quantity surveyor at MF Freeman, about his career development in the house-building industry and David, MF Freeman’s Head of Organisational Development, about the projects they are working on across the Forest. One of these projects is the recently completed development at Newnham and I was invited to come and look at the finished work.
I was very impressed by the level of workmanship and quality of the homes built at Severnbank. Being situated near the River Severn, Severnbank provides stunning views of the river flowing through the Gloucestershire countryside.
Whilst also building good quality homes, MF Freeman also supports the work of local building supply chains, who help them provide good quality housing, with a variety of tenures, across the Forest of Dean. I was very grateful to the team from MF Freeman for sparing the time to meet with me.
